WEI'S EXERCISE CHALLENGE

I'll start the ball rolling with my NEW 10-MINUTE HABIT!

I've grown tired of my wanting to exercise regularly and finding excuses not to.

So, I've designed the following for myself.

10-MINUTE HABIT

OCCURS WHEN: The moment I wake up (before I brush my pearlies)
INVOLVES:
A) Leg exercise routine 20reps per sequence.
B) Shuaishou (arm-swinging) 100times (a left and a right swing is counted as 1)
C) Drinking a WARM glass of water.

START DATE: 23 APRIL 2007, MON
END DATE: 23 MAY 2007, WED

CREATING A 10 MINUTE HABIT

1) MAKE IT SIMPLE
2) IT MUST BE PERFORMABLE WITHIN 10 MINUTES
3) PERFORM IT AT THE SAME TIME/TIMEFRAME EVERYDAY
4) PERFORM IT CONTINUOUSLY FOR 30-DAYS.
5) NOTE YOUR EXPERIENCE AFTER 30-DAYS.

OPTIONAL:
Enroll 2 other persons in your life, who sees a value in taking on creating the SAME NEW HABIT as you, and get them to JOIN you in creating the habit.

BUILDING NEW HABITS

MY assumption is as follows:

We ALL have BAD HABITS.
We (at some points in our lives) WANT to break those habits.
and WE ALL have reasons why it is so DIFFICULT to break those habits.

FOR EXAMPLE:
"No TIME" "LAZY lah" "TOO many things on my plate" "TOO expensive" "I CAN'T"
"TOO much EFFORT" "I've no DISCIPLINE" "Too DEMANDING" "I'm ALONE in this"
"Not FUN" "Too PAINFUL" "It's not time yet" "it's not THAT BAD"
(Add yours to this list)

As we all know, curling up in bed a while more, smoking that "it will be the last" cigarette, eating that "just-one-last-one" donut/muffin/mud-pie, delaying just one more day, is so inviting... soooo inviting.... ARGH!!!!

AND YET! there is that teeny-weeny voice in you that calls out to you, and asks of you to make that change. And once in a while, you ADMIT to that longing in you to breakOUT of the familiar daily grind and forseeable outcome!


WHAT IF IT IS POSSIBLE?
AND SIMPLE?
AND DOESN'T TAKE UP MUCH TIME?


Here's My PROPOSAL: Forget about breaking OLD/BAD HABITS, Let's BUILD NEW ONES instead! AND make it last.

I decided that 10 minutes a day won't be too much of a hassle for most of us. Therefore ANY NEW HABITS must fit first within that 10 minutes.

NEXT, is to run that NEW 10-Minutes Habit DAILY over 30 DAYS! That gives your new HABIT time to take hold.

REmember a LONG time ago when our parents first gotten us to brush our own teeth?
In the Beginning, it was FUN, Like a NEW adventure! Then the struggle began... but our parents PERSISTED and INSISTED we brush our pearlies. NOW, after all these years, whether we are intoxicated or clearheaded, we still WAKE up to the automated action of squeeze toothpaste on toothbrush-brush teeth-gurgle-spit (Thanks mum, for teaching me good dental hygiene)!

SO LASTLY, I decided that to keep me going in building my NEW HABIT, I shall ask YOU to JOIN ME! That way, I'll get my ASS kicked if I get tempted to quit my new habit. AND I get to kick YOURS too if you get waylaid... haha..
